Guangzhou Metro refers to the urban subway system serving Guangzhou City, which located in Guangdong Province, China.

 

Guangzhou Metro is of significant importance in this busy modern city which has a long history. Its first line, Guangzhou Metro Line 1, was officially opened on June 28, 1997, making Guangzhou the fourth place in China (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) and the first place in Guangdong Province to be a city that has its own metro system.

As of December 28, 2019, there are 14 lines in operation on Guangzhou Metro, including line 1, line 2, line 3 (including north extension section of line 3), line 4, line 5, line 6, line 7, line 8, line 9, line 13, line 14 (including branch line of knowledge City), line 21, APM and Guangfo Metro. There are 271 stations, 31 transfer stations, 513km operation mileage, and operation mileage Third in China and third in the world.

 

As Guangzhou is a big city with a huge population, Guangzhou metro is usually busy and crowded, especially during commute time. Thousands of Guangzhou citizens go to work and return home by Guangzhou metro, therefore, life without metro in this city will certainly be much more difficult. 1. Female carriages:
The female carriage is set up for female customers who ride the subway. It aims to bring more convenience to female passengers.

Since June 28, 2017, Guangzhou Metro has piloted female carriages on line 1. During the working days from 07:30 to 09:30, 17:00 to 19:00 (except holidays), the last carriage from Guangzhou Metro Line 1 to Guangzhou east station and the first carriage to Xilong are set as female-only carriages. 
The first phase of Guangzhou Metro Line 13 has the same female carriage as Guangzhou Metro Line 1.


2. Maternal and infant room:

Taking care of babies in the crowded carriage can be really difficult, special rooms are set to help women who are pregnant and mothers with their babies.
According to the official website of Guangzhou Metro in February 2018, there are 82 mother and child rooms on Guangzhou Metro. 

3. Free WIFI?
On March 21, 2017, subway passengers only need to download a "peanut subway WiFi" app ??????on mobile devices such as mobile phones. Each time they open the app online, they can connect to the WiFi network of Guangzhou Metro.

 The subway may take a long time, and the journey will be more enjoyable if customers can surf the Internet freely by using the public WiFi.

 

4. Ticket price?
Guangzhou Metro (except for the APM line of Guangzhou Metro) implements a policy called "pricing by mileage and decreasing by distance" fare: 2 yuan within 4 kilometers; 1 yuan for every 4 kilometers increased within 4 to 12 kilometers; 1 yuan for every 6 kilometers increased within 12 to 24 kilometers; 1 yuan for every 8 kilometers increased after 24 kilometers. Guangzhou Metro APM line implements a single ticket system of 2 yuan.

To buy tickets, you can use a mobile phone, cash or directly buy a card named Yangchengtong to take the metro.

 

5. Infrastructure

There is a lot of infrastructure in the metro station to provide basic services to the customer, such as stairs, escalators, chairs, etc. And there are toilets in some stations.
