Experience the Rejuvenation of Health Tourism in China: From Ancient Villages to Modern Parks

Escape to the mountains, rejuvenate your body and soul with ancient Chinese medicine, and take in the breathtaking views. This is the allure of health tourism in China, a booming industry that's drawing travelers from all over the country.

Take Wang Hui, a resident of Taiyuan who ventured to the quaint village of Songmiao, newly dubbed as a "sleeping tourist city" where visitors can indulge in Chinese herbal medicine baths, savor traditional medicinal cuisine, and partake in activities such as hiking and cycling. The small mountain town is a hit with travelers, and it's not just Songmiao.

From picturesque ancient villages to sprawling health and recreation parks, local governments across China are embracing health tourism and promoting the unique resources of their regions. Zhang Fuming, Vice Governor of Shanxi province, announced the introduction of 17 measures to develop the health industry in the province, including a fund of 2 billion yuan for related projects.

Henan province’s Jiaozuo, for example, offers Tai Chi classes, a traditional Chinese martial art that focuses on harnessing the inner energy of the human body, to achieve a balance of mind and body. The health and recreation park in the city of Jincheng, built around herbal medicine and ancient villages, aims to provide guests with a healthy and relaxing experience.

Experts estimate that the Chinese health industry market will reach 16 billion yuan by 2030. The future of health tourism in China is looking brighter than ever and it's not just industry leaders who are optimistic, Jing Linbo, President of the Evaluation Studies of the Academy of Social Sciences of China, said, "the health tourism industry will provide consumers with better and diversified products to meet people's consumption needs and provide a new impulse for the market."

So why wait? Pack your bags, take a deep breath, and come experience China's rejuvenating health tourism industry.
