Guangzhou is not a tourist city but is culturally very significant to the growth of China and it's international influence. There are so many places to visit, with free or low entrance fees as well as free parks and some of Guangdongs best theme parks!

Our recommendations:

Beijing Road -Gong Yuan Qian Metro station

Beijing road is the start of the silk road through Asia to Europe and dates back to the time of Marco Polo. This street is now one of the busiest shopping areas in Guangzhou. It's worth a visit just to see the old road a few feet below the new one. It's preserved and covered in glass so you can see it.

Beijing road is a great place for good quality clothes and products at excellent prices. There is also a good sized cinema and a range of top Guangzhou restaurants.

Zhujiang new town, Flower Park - Zhujiang new town Metro, exit B2 cross over the road and walk about 200m straight through the buildings.

The park is beautiful at night and there are so many lights. You can walk down the middle of the garden with Zhujiang new town's skyscrapers either side and Guangzhou Tower across the river at the end.

Chime Long Theme and Water Parks - Changlong Metro station, Line 3 (Panyu)

We recommend a day each for the water and theme parks. You cannot see them both the same day. There is also a Safari park (little bit overrated) and an excellent circus which is well worth a visit in the evening.

These parks are really great, safe and very popular. You'll need to take about 200RMB to enter each attraction.
